PARTNER + LIGHTING DESIGNER I ARCHITECT
Michela Mezzavilla

Michela completed her architectural studies in 1999 at IUAV Venice with a final project tutorized by Architect Enric Miralles, from ETSAB Barcelona in collaboration with IUAV Venice. She specialized in Architectural Lighting Design.

After working in other studios, in 2005 she founded reMM studio, a Barcelona based office dedicated to architecture and lighting design. In 2021 she merged with Mariel Fuentes, co-founding MMAS Lighting Design. In her carrier she designed all sorts of lighting projects: from big assignments for architects such as Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners or Atelier Jean Nouvel, to small budget projects with clever solutions; from cutting edge installations to low tech artistic set ups. Actively committed to promoting the culture of light, she is the director of the Lighting Design Postgraduate course at IED Barcelona and also lectures in other universities such as Universidad Politécnica de Catalunya.

Michela has extensive experience working in hospitality, restaurants, entertainment, retail,
exhibition, corporate, façades, exterior projects both in Spain and internationally.
She also brings extensive experience in light art installations.

Storytelling and writing are Michela’s lifelong passions, and she found in light the best emotional narrative matter for her projects.
